Biggest suprise for us.....

Today we went to the children library and hope that we can find a BM story book for Ethan. Well, managed to get a few but the books all looked very old and torn up. What to do better than nothing. The books in the library nearby Sunshine supermarket are better.

Back home only then found out that two BM story books, the pages are missing. At night, mummy tried her luck to read the BM book to Ethan. Surprisingly, Ethan sat still and finished listening to all the story books and some more he did have a small discussion with mummy. The BM story book mummy had chosen are very simple in term of the words and sentences are very short. Most important thing that mummy did was translation for him. Mummy knows that in order to let the child learn a new language, the first thing to do is to translate it when we first read to them and let the kid build up his vocabulary. When the kid is ready then no need to translate to him anymore. Imagine that Ethan only learn the BM for few months in the kindergarten of course mummy need to translate to him. But he gets to find out that a few words in the book that he already knew. Like bola, itik etc.

After he listened to the story book, he told mummy that he wanted to do the big business. When he finished, what he did he call his mother. Is a BM word. He call :"Ibu". That surprises us again. So who was the happiest people in the world? Of course is the parents. It was a great head start as Ethan accepted the new language and did not run away when his mummy read to him.

Now mummy knows that not only we need to invest in English and Chinese story books but also in BM books.
