Some art work

It has been quite some time that we did not do the art work together. Seems mother start to discipline Ethan on his nap time so that he got spare time to do extra stuffs.

Today we started with the cut, paste and draw. This time mother had to sit beside him to look at him cutting or else the whole color paper will transform into small pieces of rubbish. He likes to cut the paper into small pieces. After he finished cutting, he has to paste them on the paper. Mother asked him to draw anything on the paper.

Paste the house

He drew the door and window on the house. Mother asked why is it so many windows in the house. His response was that the house got lot of levels so it would need a lot of windows. He even said one house is Ethan's and the big house is mama's house.

Concentrated on the drawing

He even drew the tree, sun, cloud and birds in the picture. The last thing to do, paste on the wall.

Mother wanted him to practice his drawing skill and not only writing the number on the paper as recently mother noticed him has some interest in learning to draw with the help of the book. Maybe is time to consider whether to enroll him to the art class or not....

His past time

Today mother let him practice his hand skill with scissor. He needs to color the picture and cut it out to paste on the correct place. He did it very well because all was done by him without mother's help.

Finally, the parents took a move to plant the ladyfinger. We have bought the seeds for quite some time but we were lazy to clear our back yard. Few days ago, mother finally took one morning to clear it and today we started our next step.

Runaway gingerbread man

Ethan never know or hear from us about "Gingerbread man". Firstly, mummy totally doesn't know how to bake the cookies. Secondly, mummy never read the gingerbread man story for him and thirdly, we have never seen the gingerbread man in the cake shop. How does he get to know it?

Well, mummy had borrowed a story book, the title is "What a surprise". The story book tells of a little girl who read a book regarding gingerbread man. When they gone out for shopping, her dad and mum bought the gingerbread man to surprise her. At first Ethan does not really understand what a gingerbread man is. Mummy told him that it is a cookie made in the shape of a man. Then coincidentally, he found the gingerbread man in other books too. The title of the book is "Mum's birthday surprise".

From that day onward, mummy told him that she wanted to let him do the art regarding the gingerbread man. Finally today we did it! Mummy did one sample for him.

My photo book

This was the first craft that Ethan gotten to do during the school holiday. Mummy got the inspiration from the book titled "The photo book". Nowadays, mummy will try to do some of the craft or activities related to the book we read together.

Mummy chose the photo that have been printed out with bad quality by the photo shop. Don't want to waste it. Mummy cut it out and let Ethan glued it accordingly.

Actually after he glued the photos, he still asked for other people like grandparents, Ting Ting cousin but mummy told him that we don't have their photo. Will take the photo and print out later then he only get to do again the photo book.

Love seed been sprouting

Recently mummy just "READ, READ, READ" to him whenever mummy has the time to do it. Now the love seed implant in Ethan has sprouted. Why say like that ? Nowadays when mummy sit down and just read the title of the book. What does Ethan do next? Run over to mother.

Even while he was playing with his toy. He will ask mummy to wait for him by saying" Wait, let me park my trolley" or just leave his toys and quickly climbs up the bed or quickly pulls the chair and sits beside his mother. He loves to listen to the story book.

Well. he loves to listen to the story book but not reading it aloud himself. Mother is the one who read aloud to him. Last time mummy used to be like other kiasu mother who wanted their kid to be able to read at the early age. Knowing that lot of parents will be proud and happy when their kid can read at early age. Now mother has changed because mother made a mistake by asking Ethan to read when we were in Shanghai. Mummy asked him to read the "Peter and Jane" and yes he finished it but he hated that book after that. Whenever mummy takes out the series of "Peter and Jane" book. He will say that he doesn't want that book because he thinks mother wants to ask him to read again. No, No. No. Mother knew the mistake and want to rectify it. Mother had a hard time to persuade him that the one who read is mother and not him and he was so unwilling to listen to the book. See, it is a nightmare for him. Now, mother did not dare to take the Peter and Jane book out again.

Mummy wants to enjoy the precious time with him in this two years before he enters the primary school. Not to say that mummy wants to stop reading to him when he is in primary school. Only that will have less time compared to now...Right???

I can do by myself

Do you know what this little fellow up to? He is browsing the internet through "Google" search engines. We knew he learns to operate the computer very fast, when he stood beside us and watched what we have done then the next thing he will do the same again.

Last time in order to prevent him from using the notebook, daddy purposely set a password. At first he still needed our help to key in the password but after daddy told him the password then no more restriction. He can turn on the electric switch and on the notebook and key in the password by himself. Then he will open the "Mozilla" and uses google to search. We did not teach him how to use the Mozilla and google. Our best guess is that he observed and learned himself when he was with us.

Sometimes he also restrict us from shutting down the PC for him if he is the one who uses it. He wants to shutdown by himself. If we do it for him, then he will wail and protest and ask us to reopen again then he will shutdown the PC by himself.

Motor skilled training

On and off mummy will let Ethan use the scissor to cut the things. Last time we let him used the plastic scissor but now upgraded it. Sometimes in order to occupy Ethan instead of letting him disturb us, mummy will let him do something.

This round mummy let him practices his motor skill. Mummy doesn't know whether he can follow the line to cut or not. Given him the Tesco booklet and asked him to cut out the Milo advertisement in the middle of the page. Yes and he did it.

More or Less lesson

Add or minus were not a problem for him so far but not for the more or less in number. Mummy did teach him more or less but he seems like still cannot get it. If given the object to count then it works for him. However, by only giving him the number and asked him which one is more and which one is less, it does not work.

Today mummy wants to find a remember game for him to play but is unsuccessful. Daddy only took the deck of cards for Ethan. Seeing Ethan arranges it and non stop asking why got "joker " or " why got " A". Em, mummy quickly had an idea to use this card to teach him the more or less.

First mummy placed a paper on the chair for him and wrote down Ethan and mama on the paper. Asking Ethan to choose one of the card then is mama's turn to choose a card. We compared with each other which person got the bigger or smaller number. Mummy asked Ethan to jot down the number we have then told him that 5 is less than 7 or vice verse. He was having fun with the card.

At night we even played a gambling with him and we asked him to add up the cards he chose compared to his parents'. Our purpose is to let him add the number up and not the gambling. He loves the game and asked us to continue the game until we cannot stand it anymore. We have to stop him and asked him to sleep.

Knowing myself - part 3

Ethan gets to play a simple game under the knowing myself theme. Before that mummy already taught him about the name of the body part on the whiteboard, some exercises and the story book knowing myself.

Flashed the flashcard for Ethan is a failure task for mummy, he doesn't like it. The flashcard thing cannot work for him at his age anymore. Now, the method is only reading the story book to him constantly and waiting for his willingness to remember the words.

Actually when letting Ethan play this game, mummy has no high hope on him because already stop reading and teaching him for quite some time. Luckily he still remember it.

So far this method can work for him. It was a big encouragement for mummy to add other theme for him to learn Chinese words. Later will try to do the same thing in Bahasa Malaysia.
