Exciting Day for Ethan - Shanghai Wild Animal Park(上海野生动物园)

We didn't plan to visit this park because mummy knew that the entrance ticket is so expensive i.e RMB100 per adult and RMB50 for kid below 1.2m. Last week, we have been given 2 free tickets by our driver to enter this park. Said his wife got it from her client. Initially we planned to visit it last week but the ticket needs to be exchanged 2 days before your visit so we postponed to this week.

We headed to the park at 8 something and when we arrived at the park, our driver was talking to the local old lady asking about parking fee. She said if drive the car inside need parking fee but not for outside. After she provided the information, she immediately offered to sell the binocular for RMB60 per piece. Our driver rejected her then later she offered at RMB10 then our driver bought it for Ethan. See, they wanted to chop you with the high price. We immediately walked down and entered the park. We were holding Ethan to enter the park and luckily the guide didn't stop us to buy another ticket for Ethan.

We need to walk a long way from the main entrance before reaching the "Flamingo" where it was the first sight of the animal to be seen. We stayed here for a while and took the photo as the flamingo were so beautiful. Ethan did not really want to take the photo with these birds. He wanted to view them through his binocular.

We wanted to take a bus tour to enter the vehicle enclosure side to view the Herbivore, Tiger, Lion, Bear, Cheetah and White Tiger area. We had to walk quite a distance from flamingo to the bus station. Along the road, we found this tree with white flowers was so beautiful and we cannot resist wanting to take photo with it.

We were so lucky to be the first passenger entering the bus and got to choose the best viewing seats. After we entered the bus, there was a lot of people following after that and some of them had to line up and wait for the next bus as our was full. When we entered the "Vehicle Enclosure Area", the first impression for mummy was that we are entering the "Jurassic Park". Mainly because the area was surrounding by the electric fence and before you enter the area, there are many layers of gate need to pass through. Here there was a guard to open the automatic gate, after entering the gate the bus had to stop in the middle area to wait for the gate to close and wait for another gate to open then only the vehicle can go through. Last time private cars can go into this area but after the accident happened (one man had been killed by the tiger because the car broke down and he walked down from the car) the management had banned the private vehicle. Only the zoo bus or tour bus (need to apply for approval) can enter this area. Ethan was excited to see those animals. He kept on counting how many animals.

After the bus tour, we quickly walked to see the "Sea Lion performance". When we reached the place, the show had already started. It was really a long distance from the bus station to this place. We actually ran towards this place and poor daddy had to hold Ethan while running. Well the sea lion performance was great and some of the actions they performed actually won prizes before. Of course Ethan enjoyed seeing performance even though we were freezing sitting there watching the show.

After the show, the audience can take a photo with the Sea lion but you have to pay for it. Seeing that there were so many people lined up, we just gave up. We still have lot of places to cover.

Well, the most importance animal to be seen in China's Zoo is the "Panda". Ethan has saw with his own eyes and he kept on seeing that the panda doing "poo poo". After he saw it so many times, for him when we talked about panda, he will say panda "poo poo".

After seen the panda, we walked to area of lemur. We saw so many people taking photo with these animals and they actually not scare of people. At first, Ethan only dare to look and later we asked him to take photo with lemur. Surprisingly he agreed. People in China really do have not abide by the rules, the zoo have put a lot of notice that stated don't feed the animal but yet the visitors still throw junk food to the animals. Some of them even throw the water bottle towards the animals. Mummy did notice that there was one old lady throwing bread towards the panda and hoped that the panda will walk to eat instead of lying there relaxing. Seeing the China people actions, we really pity the animals.

We felt funny when we saw Ethan doing this action.

Inside the zoo, there was an area where you can take photo with the animals like elephant, camel, bear and etc but have to pay money. Different animals have different market price.

We also brought Ethan to enter the "Birds Garden". There were different kind of birds like the peacock, different type of chickens and lot of pigeons. We didn't stay long inside this garden because we were afraid of getting hit by pigeon shit as they were flying over your head.

The "Animal kindergarten" was the place to educate the kids. There were lot of baby animals like cubs, bunny, calf and etc. Visitors can feed the baby sheep with the grass and of course you need to buy the food. Nothing is free here!

Before we walked out from the zoo, we took the photo with the elephant and tiger statute at the both side of the road. Overall Ethan was the most excited person compared to his parents. We actually missed a lot of great performances like the "Dogs Racing, Arts Performance by different of animals and etc because Ethan felt tired. Bringing Ethan along for tour we normally have only half day because he will throw tantrum and doing the weird actions when it is time for him to sleep.
