Ethan finally got the guts to cross the drain

Today brought Ethan back to grandpa's house in Kedah. Seeing that his hair was quite long, we took him to the barber shop to have a cut. Daddy also took the opportunity to cut his hair at the same time. In the afternoon, mummy also cut her hair. So in one day the whole family gone to cut their hair. It's a hair cutting day!!!

Today, mummy let Ethan wear the red clothes. This is the first time mummy let Ethan wear the red t-shirt. Normally mummy will buy the cloth in white color (this is because mummy is afraid that after Ethan wear the deep colour clothes Ethan will be look like an Indian boy "dark")but recently the trend has changed a bit . Mummy did buy yellow and red shirt for Ethan. Not bad seeing Ethan wearing it.

Finally Ethan dare to cross the drain by himself without anybody holding his hand. Actually a few months ago, mummy already seen him crossed one time. Mummy informed daddy. After that don't know whether is it because of mummy excitement of seeing him cross the drain by himself - it seems like he feels like the drain is dangerous for him. After that he dare not to cross the drain. This time when he crossed the drain evebody clapped their hands. He felt very proud and repeatedly crossed the drain a few times.

Ethan daily schedule

Seems like Ethan has his own daily schedule of playing with his toys. When he entered the bedroom, he will play with the puzzle, lacing bead, 12 shape sorter and etc. For the new shape sorter, Ethan picks up very fast this round. Mummy had tried to let him play once when he was 14 months and 16 months but he did not manage to do it. Recently mummy just tried and he loves to play with this toy. Ethan turned the ball here and there to find the correct hole to put in the shapes.

When he is in the playroom, he likes to play with the puzzles, blocks, flashcards and his tricycle. Ethan seems to like mummy flashing him the card when mummy wants to feed him his lunch. Today, when mummy wanted to feed him, he asked mummy to take out all the Chinese flashcard. When he saw the words " 吃饭" he laughed and showed mummy the word before mummy fed him. Seems like mummy had successfully made him recognized and love the Chinese words.

Recently mummy lacked teaching him the English words and read story books for him. Mummy has to maintain his learning in the English else afraid that he will forgot them.

Evening time mummy gave him to eat the yogurt again. After finished eating the yogurt his face has white "misai" so funny. We called him "花脸猫"

Finally gone to the park

Today the weather was not bad. Therefore we brought Ethan to the park again as mummy also need to take some photo of the park in order to finish the story for Ethan. Ethan very excited when we arrived at the park. He wanted to walk by himself. He looked at the fountain and found the steps to walk up but he did not dare because the steps don't have any hand reel. Mummy and daddy didn't help him because we need to see how he solves his problem. Is it that he dare to walk up by himself or ask for help from parent? But Ethan was smart he used the side way which is slope upward so that he could go up and reach the upper side of the fountain without parents' help. He knew how to use his brain to solve the problem.

Ethan was so excited when he reached the playground. Daddy had to put him in the swing but he still didn't like it. He liked to play the slide though. Mummy asked daddy not to help Ethan to climb up to the top but only just walk beside him in case he was in danger. Mummy wanted Ethan to be independent. Ethan had fun playing with the slide. When he saw that there was a small sister playing the rocking horse - he walked nearby. Daddy thought that he liked to play the rocking horse but actually he liked to ride the tricycle of the small sister instead.

When Ethan saw the other bigger brothers playing the bubble, he quickly gone near to them without any second though. He also wanted to play with bubble. Since we did not bring any bubble, we let Ethan played with bubble when we reached home later that day.

After playing for a while we brought Ethan back as daddy have other things to do. Daddy wanted to hold him but he refused to do so as he wanted to walk by himself. On the way back to car park was so sloppy that he nearly fell down. Daddy grabbed his hand in time to prevent this but there was some scratches on his knee. Ethan refused to go back and he cried for a while. Mummy had plan to bring him to the park every week so as to get him to love the playground. Especially the swing .....

After having a nap in afternoon, daddy decided to bring Ethan to Queensbay Mall bookstore in order to find the Phonic books for Ethan. However, when we were nearing the mall we saw so many cars waiting to enter the carpark. Daddy decided not to go there and went to other hypermarket. We had KFC in the hypermarket. Managed to eat chicken before our Muslim friend buka puasa. :-)

Ethan @ Kentucky Fried Chicken

Few days ago we found out that Ethan already know how to do the lacing bead. He was very happy when he successfully put the lace through the bead. Ethan learned this quite fast.

Rainy day again

Today we originally planned to bring Ethan to the park but after mummy given him a bath, it was going to rain. So mummy decided to go to Tesco instead to find out whether Tesco is selling any new puzzles for Ethan to play. Unfortunately, mummy could not manage to find any. This is main because mummy wanted to buy the 20 pieces puzzle but Tesco only sells 30 or 40 pieces puzzle.

Tonight Ethan had got a bump on his head because after he bathed he quickly went to the bed and roll over in the bed naked. He thought that mummy was playing and wanted to catch him. Later he played so excited that he quickly turned his head. He hit the bed and immediately cried and also the head immediately got "tall building".

Recently mummy doesn't know why Ethan doesn't like to eat dinner. Normally he will finish all the lunch but during the dinner time he would refuse to take. He would rather be hungry and waited for his milk before sleeping. Mummy's thinking is that it might be his nap time problem? As recently he sleeps at 11 something morning until 2 something in the afternoon which for normal people the lunch time is over. So mummy had to feed him at 2 or 3 something then 4 or 5 something he wants to drink milk again and mummy had to give him dinner at 6 or 7 something but he refuse to take. Is it because he is still full ?

More difficult jigsaw puzzle and learning words

After coming back from Hotel stay and saw that Ethan can complete the jigsaw puzzle quite fast, mummy decided to let Ethan try the new puzzle which doesn't have any picture underneath. Ethan took two days to master it although this new puzzle does not have an picture underneath to guide him.

Observed that Ethan likes to take the small flashcards which mummy put into the container and asks mummy to teach him the words. This is a good sign as he has the initiative and eagerness to learn by himself instead of adult wanting him to learn. Like this he should be able to learn very fast. Today he managed to pick up the 16 Chinese words correctly when mummy asked him to find the words.

First mummy tried to adopt the Glenn Doman method but it seems like Ethan doesn't really like this method. Doman recommended the steps as per below:

1) the card and the word need to be big so that it is easy for the kid to learn. Mummy tried to flash the big cards but Ethan doesn't like it, so mummy had made the small cards.

2) 5 set of 5 words and 5 times per day. One time only can flash maximum 5 words. But mummy only flash the card one or two time per day and flash all the card. Sometime flash more than 100 cards.

No matter what method is used as long as Ethan can learn and have fun that is enough. I guess every child is different and require different kind of teaching method in order to learn and achieve the same end results.

Mummy is still headache is to how to do the maths as Ethan does not seem to like the method that mummy follow. The Doman method of teaching maths does not work on Ethan. Still thinking hard trying to find a way.

Some result of learning Chinese language

Today, mummy saw some results after teaching Ethan the Chinese words for quite some time. Same like what happened to English words, first he knows how to hold the correct position of the words. For some of the words he will point to the objects and do some actions when he saw the words. Mummy is really not so aggressively teaching Ethan. Just like to let him have fun and play with the words.

Home again

Today we checked out of the hotel nearly at 10.00am. We made this decision for early check out because it was non-stop raining from midnight till morning. We felt like there was no chances for Ethan to go the swimming pool again so better checked out early as Ethan was yelling want to go out from hotel room. It was boring as mummy didn't bring many of his toys to the hotel as we only planned to stay one night. Now that we have got some experience, next time going out to travel we know what to do.

Maybe it was because this morning Ethan woke up so early, so when we are in the car on the way back home, Ethan already slept. Mummy saw him slept at standing position again.


This evening mummy let him play with the mega blocks that we bought for him before we went to the hotel stay. He played with daddy. He have fun with them. Don't know why Ethan like to take out all the blocks and put them back again. He seems to like this take out and put back action. It kept him busy for some time so that mummy have time to watch TV.
